ICOM General Conference “The Power of Museums” in Prague: registration is open
Dear Colleagues, we are pleased to announce that registration for the ICOM 2022 General Conference is open. The main forum of the world museum community will be held from 20 to 28 August in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
Until May 1, 2022, there are benefits in relation to the registration fee. For members of ICOM Belarus, which now belongs to category 3 according to the classification of solvency adopted by the Executive Board of ICOM International based on data from the International Monetary Fund, the preferential fee is set at 250 EUR for all membership categories, including students. Participants in the status of accompanying persons until May 1, 2022 pay 300 EUR, and those who are not members of ICOM – 450 EUR.
From May 2 to August 7, 2022, the registration fee for category 3 countries, to which ICOM Belarus belongs, is set at 350 euros; for students – 300 euros. For non-members, the fee during this period is 550 euros, and for participants in the status of accompanying participants, 300 euros remain.
The highest contribution becomes from August 8, 2022. For category 3 countries it is 450 EUR; for students – 350 EUR; for non-ICOM members – 650 EUR; for participants in the status of accompanying persons, 300 EUR remains.
ATTENTION! For the first time in the history of the International Council of Museums, the General Conference will be able to participate remotely.
Until May 1, 2022, and in this case, there are benefits: for all categories of membership, the fee is 90 EUR, for non-ICOM members – 280 EUR. From May 2, respectively – 120 EUR and 350 EUR.

November 10, 2020 a meeting of members of the Governing Council of ICOM Belarus with employees of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War took place.
Chairperson of ICOM Belarus Tatiana Bembel familiarized the museum staff with various aspects of ICOM Belarus, answered questions.
Director of the museum Vladimir Voropaev expressed interest in partnership of the museum staff with ICOM Belarus, invited members of the Governing Council to visit a new space in the museum - the "Museum for Children" hall.
Members of the Governing Council also took part in a regular meeting, where they discussed current issues.
After the meeting of the Governing Council, the head of the memorial complex "Monument to Soldiers-Internationalists" (a branch of the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War) Viktor Ivanchikov conducted a tour of the branch, spoke about the peculiarities of the memorial complex in the urban space.
On August 15, 2020, the museum community of Belarus suffered a heavy, tragic loss - Konstantin Shishmakov, director of the Volkovysk Military History Museum named after Bagration. ICOM Belarusian Committee expresses sincere condolences to family members, friends and colleagues deceased. Konstantin Shishmakov was a man of solid moral principles and a professional in his field. We grieve and remember.
On March 5, 2020, from 19.00 to 20: 3 , a working meeting of members and friends of the Belarusian Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) "Man and the Museum. ICOM Belarus Digest" took place. This was the second meeting in 2020.

February 14, 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the creation of the creative association "UNOVIS" in Vitebsk, which was organized by teachers and students of the Vitebsk Folk Art School and has become one of the starting points of innovative art directions of the twentieth century. This is the final day of the International Scientific and Practical Conference, organized by the Vitebsk Center for Contemporary Art. Researchers and experts working in the field of avant-garde theory and history came to Vitebsk and Minsk to participate in the conference and discuss the impact of UNOVIS on world artistic culture of the 20th century: art historians, artists, representatives of museums and publishing houses, and, of course, members of ICOM Belarus.
January 30, 2020 a working meeting of members and friends of the Belarusian Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) "Man and the Museum. ICOM Belarus Digest" was held. This was the first meeting in the new 2020 after the reporting and election conference, which was held on December 12, 2019.
The program of the meeting:
- Discussion questions that have arisen in the course of work on a new version Embed ICOM Belarus.
- A message about how to work in 2020. The project "Man and the Museum: ICOM Belarus Digest" - initiatives and plans.
- Information about opportunities for ICOM Belarus members to expand international contacts and cooperation.
- Continued relationship with ICOM International Committees: ICME (International Committee of the ethnographic museums and collections) representation.
- Messages, news, suggestions from colleagues.
The meeting was held at the address: Minsk, Dzerzhinsky Ave., 57, floor 9, TUT.BY Gallery (un. st. "Michałowo.").
On April 9-10, 2019, «Museums in XXI Century: New Meanings, New Space, New Imagery» international conference took place in Minsk. ICOM Belarus co-organized this conference.

On April 16, 2019, applications for participation in the project «Museum Academy - 2019» was completed. The Belarusian Committee of the International Council of Museums «ICOM» together with the Cultural Heritage and Modernity Foundation, Tradicia History Service, Berlin and the Goethe Institute in Minsk organized this project with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. The project is aimed primarily at regional museums. Read the Information letter.
On December 4, 2018, a regular meeting of current, former and potential members of ICOM Belarus was held within the framework of the program «Man and Museum: ICOM Belarus Digest», held jointly with the Gallery TUT.BY. The meeting addressed topical issues in accordance with the meeting schedule.
November 26, 2018, in Tbilisi, a working meeting of the member of the Executive Committee of Belarus ICOM Viktor Ivanchikov and Director General of the National Museum of Georgia David Lordkipanidze took place.
During the meeting, the development of museums in the Republic of Belarus and Georgia were discussed. On behalf of the Chairperson of ICOM Belarus, Tatyana Bembel, Viktor Ivanchikov invited David Lordkipanidze to take part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Museums in the XXI Century: NEW MEANINGS, NEW SPACE, NEW IMAGES», which is scheduled for April 9 -10, 2019, in Minsk. The meeting ended with the exchange of souvenirs.

August 17, 2018, in Riga signed an agreement on long-term cooperation between ICOM Belarus and ICOM Latvia.
