ICOM General Conference “The Power of Museums” in Prague: registration is open

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that registration for the ICOM 2022 General Conference is open.

The main forum of the world museum community will be held from 20 to 28 August in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

Until May 1, 2022, there are benefits in relation to the registration fee. For members of ICOM Belarus, which now belongs to category 3 according to the classification of solvency adopted by the Executive Board of ICOM International based on data from the International Monetary Fund, the preferential fee is set at 250 EUR for all membership categories, including students.

Participants in the status of accompanying persons until May 1, 2022 pay 300 EUR, and those who are not members of ICOM – 450 EUR. From May 2 to August 7, 2022, the registration fee for category 3 countries, to which ICOM Belarus belongs, is set at 350 euros; for students – 300 euros. For non-members, the fee during this period is 550 euros, and for participants in the status of accompanying participants, 300 euros remain.
The highest contribution becomes from August 8, 2022. For category 3 countries it is 450 EUR; for students – 350 EUR; for non-ICOM members – 650 EUR; for participants in the status of accompanying persons, 300 EUR remains.

ATTENTION! For the first time in the history of the International Council of Museums, the General Conference will be able to participate remotely.

Until May 1, 2022, and in this case, there are benefits: for all categories of membership, the fee is 90 EUR, for non-ICOM members – 280 EUR. From May 2, respectively – 120 EUR and 350 EUR.

Meeting with employees of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War

Members of the Governing Council of ICOM Belarus met with employees of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.

Chairperson of the ICOM Belarus Tatiana Bembel briefed the museum staff on various aspects of the activities of the ICOM Belarus and answered questions.

Museum Director Vladimir Voropaev expressed interest in the partnership of the museum staff with the ICOM of Belarus, invited members of the Governing Council to visit a new space in the museum - the hall "Museum for Children". Also, the members of the Governing Council took part in the regular meeting, where they discussed current issues.

Konstantin Shishmakov passed away

Today, the museum community of Belarus has suffered a heavy, tragic loss - Konstantin Shishmakov, director of the Volkovysk Military History Museum named after Bagration, has passed away. The Belarusian Committee of ICOM expresses its sincere condolences to the family members, friends and colleagues of the deceased. Konstantin Shishmakov was a man of strong moral principles and a professional in his field.
We mourn and remember.

100 years of the creative association “UNOVIS”

It has been 100 years since the creation of the "UNOVIS" creative association in Vitebsk, which was organized by teachers and students of the Vitebsk Folk Art School and became one of the starting points of innovative art trends of the 20th century. This is the final day of the International Scientific and Practical Conference organized by the Vitebsk Center for Contemporary Art.

To participate in the conference and discuss the influence of "UNOVIS" on the world art culture of the 20th century, researchers and specialists working in the field of theory and history of the avant-garde came to Vitebsk and Minsk: art historians, artists, representatives of museums and publishing houses and, of course, members of ICOM Belarus.

Acceptance of applications for participation in the project “Museum Academy – 2019”

The acceptance of applications for participation in the project "Museum Academy - 2019", which is organized by the Belarusian Committee of the International Council of Museums "ISOM" together with the Foundation "Cultural Heritage and Modernity", Tradicia History Service, Berlin and the Goethe Institute in Minsk, with the financial support of the Ministry foreign affairs of Germany. The project is aimed primarily at regional museums.

Working meeting in Tbilisi

Tbilisi hosted a working meeting between ICOM Belarus Executive Committee member Viktor Ivanchikov and Director General of the National Museum of Georgia David Lordkipanidze. During the meeting, issues of the development of museum business in the Republic of Belarus and Georgia were discussed.

Signing an agreement with ICOM Latvia

In Riga, at the Military Museum of Latvia (Latvijas Kara muzejs), an agreement on long-term cooperation between ICOM Belarus and ICOM Latvia was signed.
